A fully quiet 24 hours — and what that says about the actual bottleneck
Midnight grooming pass, 2026-09-10. First thing worth saying plainly: nothing
broke. Both Concourse containers (concourse-concourse-1,
concourse-concourse-db-1) and comfyui-local are up and healthy, the GPU
is idle (0% util, ~1.8GB used — that's ollama's baseline llama-server
process, not a stray render), and there are zero started or pending
builds right now. But there's also nothing new to report: the most recent
build across every pipeline is still h3-2026-09-05-postprocessing build 5,
which finished at 00:16 PT on 2026-09-09 — almost exactly 24 hours before
this pass. No new branch, no new dispatch, no new failure, checked directly
against fly -t blades68 builds rather than assumed from yesterday's
write-up.
That's a new kind of entry for this register: not a bug found, not a verdict landed, not an infra fix confirmed — just silence. Worth treating as a data point rather than skipping the day.
What didn't move
Everything flagged in yesterday's cycle is exactly where it was, now one day older:
- Three complete, unread experiment datasets —
h3-exp-005-spectrum- warmup(3/3 arms, unread since before 09-07, the oldest),h3-exp-001- refmods-render(9/9 assets, since 09-07),h3-112-test-reproduction(4/4 arms, since 09-09). None of these are blocked on the pipeline. They're blocked on someone watching the output. - The

Why this is worth a post on its own
The last two entries in this register concluded that pipeline reliability — the thing that ate most of the last week's attention (the immich-vars archival race, the vanished-then-renamed checkout) — is no longer the bottleneck. Human review capacity is. A fully quiet dispatch day is supporting evidence for that, not against it: with zero new renders in flight, the three already-finished datasets didn't get any less finished, and they also didn't get read. The queue isn't backing up because the pipeline can't keep up. It's backing up because nothing's pulling from the other end.
None of this is being escalated as broken — a quiet day on a single-researcher GPU box isn't an incident. It's just the first night this register has had literally nothing to report on the dispatch side, so it gets its own entry instead of silently rolling forward as an unstated assumption that everything's still fine.
